ICA Insurance Education's complex worker’s compensation course goes far deeper than providing coverage for employees and providing employers, employers liability coverage. We will explore the different rating programs available and how to guide our clients through the various types of programs.
- Request for Proposal (RFP) -
A Request for proposal will be explained and reviewed during this course. Included in this section is information needed when responding to an RFP
- Description of Business Operations -
Understanding a business’ operations is paramount to providing the correct coverages on a worker’s compensation policy. We will evaluate how the moving pieces of a cabinet manufacturer/installation company such as the work being done and the states in which they operate.
- Underwriting concerns -
Each commercial risk has unique exposures, and in this course, worker’s compensation underwriting concerns will be reviewed in detail, and allow the agent to identify risks associated with a business. You will be able to identify safety hazards, loss frequency, and the underwriting protocol for multiple state operations, and many other factors.
- Evaluation of current coverages and deficits -
As with many commercial risks, carefully evaluating current coverages allows an agent to identify potential gaps in coverage. A review of current coverages is provided and throughout the rest of the course you will learn about different policy plans including retro, captive, and dividend plans.
- Rating information analysis -
Loss runs, payroll, deductibles, and class codes will be explored in detail. An understanding of experience mods and calculation will also be taught while helping you through the different rating worksheets .
- Final proposal -
After an in-depth review of the risk, underwriting and coverage review, final recommendations are made to the insured based on the information learned throughout the previous weeks. Once this is completed you will create a proposal to the underwriter that encompasses everything you have learned.

This class is available in all states. 13 hours CE credit available in CA, CO, IA, MS, MO, UT, VT, VA, and WY only. This class is held for 13 consecutive days (excluding weekends), at the time selected on the event calendar, which reflects Mountain Time.
